Full-Time Tasting Room Associate

Compensation: Hourly

Job Overview: This is a full-time customer service position. Black Ankle Vineyards is looking for positive
and personable candidates with strong sales and customer service attributes who are flexible and love
working in a team environment. Hospitality experience, sales and wine knowledge are preferred but not
required. As Tasting Room Associate you will exude positivity and enthusiasm while delivering
exceptional customer service to all guests. Applicants must thrive in a fast-paced work environment and
have the ability to adapt and go with the flow. Applicants must be able to work 32-40 hours/week.

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide excellent and professional customer service, with an emphasis on creating customer loyalty and retention.
  • Educate customers regarding Black Ankle Vineyards wines, our history, and our facility.
  • Intelligently converse with customers on the topic of wine and wine/food pairings.
  • Promote and sell wines, wine club memberships and merchandise by assisting and educating guests.
  • Successfully and confidently navigate the Point of Sale system.
  • Provide general tourist information.
  • Conduct numerous other duties associated with a fast‐paced retail environment such as, but not limited to; restocking, bussing tables, wiping down tables, opening and closing satellite bar locations., cleaning kitchen and bathrooms, etc…

Qualifications:

  • Energetic, accountable, and team oriented.
  • Friendly personality and converse with a wide array of customers and personalities.
  • Admiration for wine and the wine making process.
  • Strong communication skills to work well in team environment.
  • Works well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Previous tasting room preferred but not required, sales & hospitality or wine retail experience.
  • Ability to work 6+ hours shifts that consist of weekends, some evenings, and holidays.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds and be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work 32-40 hours per week.

Marketing Intern

Compensation: Hourly 

Job Overview: The Marketing internship at Black Ankle is an excellent way to explore, learn, and strengthen your marketing and communications skills. You will learn how to use various programs to aid in creating marketing campaigns for the vineyard (Lightroom, Canva, Instagram, Facebook, Facebook Business Suite, Later, Trello, and WineDirect) and use both your creative and collaboration skills each day. A large part of this position is organizing and completing many different tasks that different people will give you, so being organized and responsive is very key. People who will thrive in this position are responsible, creative, collaborative and team-minded individuals who are fast learners and adaptive to new tasks each day. Marketing interns work heavily with the Marketing Director, Christina, and the General Manager, Melissa. Skills that we will be seeking in prospective interns are the ability to use/quickly learn how to use Lightroom, WineDirect, Canva, Instagram and Facebook, Facebook Business Suite, Later, and Trello. Other skills include great writing and grammar, the ability to work well with others on projects, and a high proficiency using a computer, especially with email, word processing, and an ability to quickly learn other programs. This position also requires great organization skills and the ability to keep track of many changing and differing tasks from multiple team members.  

Day-to-Day tasks of the Marketing Intern:  

  • Planning/scheduling social media posts (Facebook and Instagram) on Later  
  • Writing language and collecting photos for social media posts 
  • Reporting on social media analytics  
  • Making edits/additions to the Black Ankle website through wine direct  
  • Helping to create BOOTS boxes and other marketing campaigns  
  • Assisting other Black Ankle team members with any tasks 
  • Create/edit/update marketing materials in Canva  
  • Brainstorm how to get more eyes on Black Ankle content: learning the algorithm of social media platforms  
  • Edit/take photos for marketing content
